Grand hammer tail scuffing jig

10-16-2014 12:39

A support for use when scuffing tails: using a sandpaper paddle, sand at right angles to the length of the hammer, to remove any glazing and create a somewhat roughened surface for good checking. The hammer shank should be pressed into the slot (made from tongue and groove oak flooring in the photo), and the hammer head should be supported on the top of the jig with the thumb. Go from one end of the action to the other.
