Jon -
Given that you were buying the parts for a church, I'd say the first version was the correct one. <I:-

If I had posed Michelle's question, I would have been thankful for your thoroughly direct response. Being me, of course, I wonder how such a range is derived... not because I have any formula of my own... just wondering. 'Value' seems so much a function of ye ol' supply'n'demand, and perception. If I, as an institutional technician, were electing to install used parts, how would my expectations change? What difference in the level of performance, longevity, or maintenance would I expect to encounter? How much of the 'new' price is associated with the virgin state of the box seal, or a (real or assumed) manufacturer's warranty, as in, I buy the parts and then turn around and sell them to you? In 1 week? in 4 years? What's the difference between the work we might end up having to do on used parts and what we often need to do with the new ones? Maybe the stability that would (possibly) come with parts that are broken-in is an added value, rather than a depreciatory one.
I could go on. Thank godness Jon responded first.
Someone go see if she's awake, or breathing. Maybe that's just the best cell-phone.
If you were to take a similar ID photo, we could try doing a Who Wear's It Better? series.
In my version of that yogic pose - Upward Facing Tech - I invariably knock over the open parts box. Need more practice, and nicer socks.
Regards to both

Hey! I was planning on making that photo ID. Nice Job, Looks Great. You beat me to it :-(
Depending on the wear, $300 to $600 is a good range for workable parts. I bought some s/f/h not long ago for a church piano, the cost reduction was much appreciated.
