    Hi all,

does anybody use an iPad in the field, for keeping an inventory of the instruments serviced, logs, a.s.o.? If so, have you found any app that would be particularly suitable for our line of work?

    Regards,
    Patrick

The Gazelle iOS app is currently under development, is in beta testing, but has not been released for general use.  The Gazelle system currently functions as a web application.  It is certainly worth checking out, and may be exactly what you're looking for in terms of function, if not yet in terms of operating platform.  I have had more success in accessing the web application from my Android tablet than from my iPhone 4, but I recently did a very modest upgrade to an iPhone 4S, and a little bit of exploration this past weekend suggested that even this gave me a significant improvement.

    Patrick,

Gazelle is a good solution for everything you are needing and our iOS App should be ready for download later this fall. For the time being you can access everything on your phone through a mobile web browser.

Also, the iOS issues that Floyd mentioned were fixed this morning. We support iOS 7,8,9 and 10 as well as Android 4.4 and later.

NOTE: There are a lot of apps focused inventory and customer relationship management systems, but Gazelle is the only one that fully integrates everything you need inside one application (Online Scheduling, Inventory, Service History Managment, Automated Reminders, Customer/Piano Record Keeping, Invoicing, and a native app from which you can manage everything out in the field). These things can be managed in parts through different apps but you will have to balance double or triple entry across multiple platforms. Our mission with Gazelle is to solve the big problems our industry faces by creating a technology that integrates everything you need under one roof.

Hi Timothy, and thanks for your reply!

I've looked into both PianoCal and the Gazelle Network. I bet they are top-notch for running a business in the US/Canada. Over here (in Finland) the needs would be different. Translations of the web interface to swedish and finnish (this is a bilangual country) to overcome the language barrier customers would otherwise face during the booking procedure is one such need, another is that we don't have states over here (too small a country for that) and thus the interface would have to be tweaked a bit.

If these networks would launch a more international approach at some stage, I'd be eager to try them out. Working as a professional coder in my spare time (mainly PHP, and of course all the necessary HTML/CSS/Java needed for websites), I know that localization can be quite an undertaking. Nevertheless it's very much doable, if you find it worth the effort.

    regards,
    Patrick
