    When the average air temperature in a room is "normal", the piano can still be suffering. Much like using a datalogger to record the humidity changes, the temperature to which a piano is subjected can change dramatically when we aren't around. Be sure to take into account window placement, compass directions of doors, windows, etc.

    Looks like the reading I took off my dashboard a few weeks back while it was parked in the sun in front of a church that I tuned a Baldwin. I have a client with a Knabe  grand that sits under a skylight . I have measured 20 to thirty degrees higher readings in the mid octaves where the sun beats. I advised a shade or screen on the skylight or move the piano but it hasn't happened
