Found this in my Schimmel Nelson piano catalog. They only made 12 of these, I think there are only 2 left.

    Sounds comfortable.

    oh dear ...

    ....

Chris, please don't show that to any of your clients. I've seen the results of people trying to tune their own piano, wondering "how hard could it be?" Then they call a real piano tuner, and our job is that much more difficult. Again, please give this out with your company brochure πŸ˜‰

    Benjamin,

And you charge accordingly, and then make a non-incriminating record of the incident and publish it on your website to educate people as to why they should not do this...it will be far more expensive for them than if they make the wise decision first.

I am all for people trying it. That clinches it...Ooops!

    Lol! Very true.

Although, I suppose one benefit is that, at least when I've had to deal with this, the client mostly gets the piano up to pitch. Not that it matters much, as I have to spend just as much time on it on my end....

I beg to differ about tuning lessons!  I always offer to give tuning lessons, even directing customers to ebay for tuning kits and showing how its done.

No one has ever "survived" my piano tuning as a carrier introduction lecture.  The few customers with new or repaired strings benefit by not needing to call me every week when their one string goes out of tune.  Most folks quickly find out how hard it is and appreciate me more.

Who knows?  Perhaps someday I will find my replacement!
