Hi everyone. At the Annual Convention in Norfolk, 2016, the Board of Directors in Post-Council asked for an OnlineCommunications Committee to be formed and implemented for the purpose of hearing complaints fromour on-line communities. This new, very simple change will make each community essentially self-moderating,giving each user a voice to speak up if something inappropriate takes place. This request, and its subsequent implementation, comes at a time of calm from all the communities. Everyone isplaying well together. That makes this committee's job easy; more like non-existent. That would pleaseeveryone. The committee will be chaired by Mark Purney. I asked the RVP's to present to me a list of candidatesfrom their regions that they felt would be a good fit for this committee. Many names came forward, andin the end, I asked 3 people who I thought stood out, and all 3 agreed to serve. They are: WesleyHardman, Ruth Zeiner, and Jeannie Grassi. There were many starts and stops for them, as the mechanics of how a complaint was going to behandled was worked out with Clint Sears, our Home Office IT person. I will take responsibility for theslowness in implementing the process. It needed to be a system where a quick response to thecomplaint could be handled. Also, we needed to make sure that all the committee members werereceiving the notice that a complaint had been issued. That proved to be more of a challenge thanoriginally anticipated, but I believe the bugs have been worked out, and the committee is ready to go.Mark has developed a set of guidelines the committee needs to follow. The 'rules' will be added to thebottom right side of the home page@ my.ptg.org, in the same place you find the Code of Conduct.Again, this is being implemented in a time of calm with all the communities. There will be a 'button' (Mark as Inappropriate) added to the bottom of our discussion-typecommunities, like Pianotech and CAUT, for example. There will be no button added to the committees.Once that button is pushed, the committee will go to work to provide a solution to the situation. I stress;this is being implemented in a time of calm. We do not expect or anticipate a flood of complaints. Again, everyone is cooperating, getting along, and in general, the tenor of the groups is quite cooperative andcongenial. We anticipate this trend to continue. If there are any questions, I, Mark, or the Executive Committee would be happy to assist. With permission from President Paul Brown,-Phil Bondi-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
