We have in our collection four 1988 Young Chang G-185s that are likely to continue with us for a while.  It will only be a matter of time before I get around to doing some restringing, at the very least in the treble sections.

I observe that these pianos have a vertical drop-off at the top edge of the notch.  I'm not sure what I'm going to see when I start pulling off strings.  Presumably the intent of the bridge designer was to keep the speaking length of the string ringing free for longer.  In your experience, does this strategy tend to be successful?

My normal procedure is to sand the bridge top, recut the notches, then seat the pins in epoxy.

My main motivations in restringing these treble sections has to do with poor rendering and false beats.  Sustain is still pretty good.  If this were your project, would you make some adjustments to the protocol I usually follow?

Thanks in advance for your input on this question!

Have you tested the V-bars for hardness? Every YC I have seen had a hard capo bar which limits the beauty possible in the treble. I make new caps if I don't trust the one in a piano.
