    Hi Everyone!

I have been hired to by the powers that be in the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to help them find their next Senior Piano Technician. Mike Kemper retired this summer after twenty-some years, and his shoes will be hard to fill. Could you give me some idea what a competitive yearly salary might be? Assuming full benefits, about 90 functional pianos... this person will be expected to be the admin, do concert work, etc., and supervise another part-time tech and possible other interns. Private replies fine if you prefer:  teri22ns@att.net

    Thanks!

    Hi Teri,

This has probably (hopefully?) already occurred to you and the committee you serve, but as you gather the data you requested, please bear in mind that cost of living varies a lot from major metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, etc. to smaller cities and towns that are also home to universities with music schools or departments. Therefore, X amount of dollars goes a lot further in, say, Bloomington, Indiana or Baton Rougue, Louisiana than here in (Hel)L. A., where UCLA is located.

Nice to see you post on this list!

    Thanks Alan!

Yes, I have of course taken that into account. Wish there was not such a difference! I have received several replies now, thanks everyone.
