    Hi All,

The string lifting tool in the attached image is by far the most popular one with the many technicians with whom I work. If memory serves, this one was designed and made by John Hart. Haven't been able to purchase one new for a long time.

So, I was wondering if anybody has one knocking around that they would be willing to part with. If you do--or you know where I can acquire one or more--please contact me.

    Thanks,

    Alan

Can't help you with that, but here is a similar, home made tool. The one on the left, a 1/4" brass rod, tapered at one end, and with a groove filed in that end to accept a string. A hole is drilled through the middle of the rod, through which a piece of music wire (I believe #15) is threaded and attached, using a German stringing loop. A tiny hook is bent at the end. It can get where other string hooks can't, grabs the wire very positively, and the groove makes it a good tool for pressing against wire to make positive bends. The best string leveling tool I know of. The rubber knob on the end is for pressing a string with the heel of the palm, so you don't dig into flesh.
