Does anybody have an idea what this tool might be?

Could be for settling strings down at the bridge pins.

I'm thinking bridle tape inserter. Wedge in a tack and set the length with the collet

    Samuel,
You said "tool," but the two photos seem to show two different tools.
I have a guess about the one in the top photo.  It looks like a Wurlitzer Action Bracket Broken Screw Extractor.
I will try to attach photos of mine.  I used it again just last week.  When you need it, it is pretty much indispensable.

    Hi, Samuel,
i did a zoom up on your top photo, and it has a groove, not a four-point design like the Wurlitzer screw extractor I sent a photo of.
I guessed wrong. The top tool looks like some sort of string seater.  The bottom one; I'm not sure.
Sorry to chase this down a wrong alley.

I have a tool just like that, except that it doesn't have a collet on it. 20 years ago, Bruce Ziesmer from the Appleton, Wisconsin chapter showed us the tool, and so my brother made me one out of quarter - inch steel rod. It was supposed to have multiple uses, including bending Grand damper wires with the action still in the piano. I use it for that and for suppressing false Beats. Otherwise, I don't know what the other uses are.
