Found this practice rail installed on a 1993 Kawai KG-1N

Looks like a factory installed practice rail designed for grand pianos. Operates exactly like it would in an upright. Was mounted into the case and not as an attachment to the keybed. I thought I had a pic of how it was installed into the case but I can't find it. Very clean.

The two pics are one from the top showing how the felt strip slides between the hammers and the strings. The other shows the control mechanism mounted under the keybed.

If this is a commercially available product I would really like to know where they can be purchased. Anyone know?

Edit: My apologies for the fact that the two pics I attached have somehow been rotated differently than the pics I actually uploaded.

I believe I have worked on a piano with this same system.  It was a real pain when pulling the action, but I don't remember exactly why.  A much better grand mute system is being made and sold by Steven James, RPT.  Each is a custom installation and it is not cheap, but it works great!  Check out: http://www.grandpianomuffler.com/
