OK let's stop the potential for the rumor mill. In answer to Wim's question "what happened to MIke" the answer is "nothing, except landing a better job in his home territory".
I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay at Luther. In the three years I was there, with the help of many, many donors, (BTW over half aa Million $) we were able to change the face of the music department through the acquisitioon, rebuildding, relocation and disposal pianos. Luther now has a wonderful and up to date collection of pianos appropriate for the program. It was a lot of work and worth every second put forth. The next tech coming through will have these instruments to maintain and a complete record of the work done to them. They can simply pick up where I left off as Conrad has so graciously done during the transition.
In addition I was blessed with a level of respect that I have never had in the past.
If any potential candidate has any question about the post, please contact me directly at mreiter@uoregon.;edu and I will be happy to have a chat with them.
The music program at Luther is high level as evidenced by a recent Opera Magazine cover which featured bright new talent in opera and featured six new potential stars. Two were Luther Grads!! Speaks very well of the voice department.
