I am looking for two articles by Kent Swafford.

    Tuning To The Top
    Tuning To The Bottom

I asked Kent about this the other day at the PTG Convention in St Louis and he confirmed that they are no longer available online. He then confirmed the names of the articles and said that they were both published in The Journal sometime in the '90s. OK, so I dug out my 2000 edition of the 20 Years of The Piano Technicians Journal CD's and began my futile search. While the PDF files are very likely available somewhere on the four CD's, the search function is requiring an older version of Acrobat and is not accessible by anything current. So, today's question: Does anyone just maybe happen to know which issue of The Journal those two articles appeared in? If I knew that I could just go to the pdf of that issue or year on the CD and probably find it.

    Thanks!

    Geoff,

it's in the July 1994 edition.
However, it's only one article titled "Temperament to the Top - Temperament to the Bottom".

    Richard --

Thank you for finding this. Yes, that's the article I was looking for. Yaay!

I have had this CD collection since about 2002. I always found it quite useless because the search feature never returned anything helpful. But now, being forced to open up the disc in file mode, I find that each issue is simply a single pdf file. Exactly like what PTG is now using to publish the Journal on the PTG website. I still find searching for something specific pretty futile in that you can't search for content in any issue on these discs without actually opening each file one at a time. The search feature in Windows Explorer is not able to search inside a pdf file for specific text. But now that you, Richard, got me to the right issue, and the article I was looking for, I find that there are a lot of really interesting articles in those past issues. I think these CD's are going to be transferred to my tablet so I can start at the first one and just browse those past issues in sequence. A lot of good stuff hidden in there.

    Thanks --

    Hello Geoff,

I believe that there is also a PDF file on that CD that has an index of the titles of all of the articles. I can then search by keyword within that index file and I can usually find what I am looking for.
