    Greetings All,

As many of you know, at the National Convention in Denver (2015), the PTG Foundation put on a superb program entitled, "A Glimpse Into Montal's Paris." This event celebrated the translation into English by Fred Sturm, RPT, of Claude Montal's seminal text, The Art of Tuning. The evening was ably produced by Joyce Meekins, RPT and featured Fred along with a host of other speakers and performers providing insights into Paris in the early to mid-nineteenth century, where Montal found himself in the center of the piano world. This very special night was truly a highpoint in the Guild’s history.

I shot video of the evenings proceedings and was so impressed by how well the program turned out that I decided to edit it into a 90 minute DVD, just right for a chapter program. It has been my pleasure to "host" a few viewings of the video by PTG chapters in my local area. Judging by the feedback I received, all in attendance found the experience well worth their while. In fact, each one of those viewings was so well received that they resulted in donations being made to the PTG Foundation out of appreciation for this video, and in support of this kind of high-quality programming and all of the Foundation’s other good works.

A copy of the video was sent to EVERY chapter president (did you know that there are 145 chapters?!?). And yet, it has come to my attention that members of many chapters seem unaware that this valuable resource has been provided for them.

What to do? If you have not yet seen the Montal DVD with your chapter, and are not aware of plans to view it, please gently prod your chapter president to plan a chapter meeting that features the video. In the event that the DVD, shall we say, "Never made it to your chapter president," feel free to make that prodding a bit less gentle. If they have already sold it on eBay, another will be provided… by certified mail! ;-)

The elegantly designed DVD case is attached.

    Best,

    Alan
