If, over the years of coexistence on these lists, Ron ever has said anything even remotely nice to me, it escapes my memory.  And I will miss him terribly.  I learned from him, in spite of myself.  He got me to tune in the attack, to listen differently, which has had as much significant impact on me as David Anderson's embrace of Duality.  He challenged me to offer genuine, data-based observations, even when I either thought I already had, or sensed that it was beyond my capacity.  Our antagonism was, I believe, a pure function of digital communication, as, I believe it would have been thoroughly different had we ever met, face to face, but, by his standard, I fail, even in that statement, as I have no data to support it. My bad.

Ron held out for as long as he could against the absurdities of our current list protocols, so it seems iRonic (to me at least) that no one has either thought or been able to alter the subject line to reflect his passing, if, for nothing else, the future searchability of the  archives. I realize, from similar such attempts in the past, that no good will come from my current effort, but I offer it as my own attempt at homage to a formative force in my life.  Perhaps it would also represent such an act of respect that the two existing subject lines to which the original news was posted ("Thank You John" on Pianotech / "Refinement of Equilibrium..." on CAUT) would continue, as Ron had meaningful contributions on each of them.

    Thanks Ron

Oh, wow. What a shock. I am truly sorry about his passing. I don't
know Ron that well, but we have met, and I have taken some of his
classes over the years. I owe so much learning to Ron's observations
and comments over the years. I will really miss him. And, yes, his
threshold for BS was very low. I think that is what I liked about him
    the most.
I remember one class I took (called Soundboards and Stuff, I
think), where he walked in the room with one of those shepherd's hook
bridges in one hand, and he just stood there looking at it. And then he
looked at us and said, "Why?" I loved it. Well done, Ron. Peace to
    you and your family. Clark
