Tuned  GA1 today, and the strangest sympathetic vibration noise was coming from the tenor strut.  This occurred when playing notes D4 up thru Eb5. (Strings cross under the strut at these notes) It was just a low gong like tone immediately on the attack, and quickly disappeared.  Grabbing the strut in the middle remedied the problem.
is this an inherent problem with this model, any ideas on how to permanently fix the issue?
Also, on same piano, G4 has a weird metallic vibration.  After doing the normal search, I got underneath piano and found the source.   What are your thoughts on this one?  I will give answer in a couple days

From Yamaha tech support I got the answer for this situation a couple years ago.  Happens to more pianos than Yamaha, as the plate can ring.

Go to a hardware store and buy some magnets about 2"x 3" in size.  Place as many needed on the offending struts, preferably as much out of sight as possible.  When you have the magnet's placement and number determined, remove, paint, reinstall.

The magnets change (lower) the frequency of the strut vibration, hopefully taking it out of the realm of objection.

If small magnets don't work, find a really big one that will.

I've had two pianos with plate ringing so bad I had to install upwards of five large magnets to stop it.

I had a Mason & Hamlin that had a bad one, and then some other make that I can't recall right now, but it had a really weird frequency halfway between G & G# which drove the owner nuts.

First I put a big C-clamp on it as a test. That proved the point. They went and found a nice long magnet and slapped it on there...problem solved.

Wow amazing how "a couple days" slips past into 5 weeks.
So the metallic buzz I encountered while playing G4 - C5  was the leg ferrule on the treble side.  It was just loose enough to rattle/buzz against the leg.  That was a new one for me.

Always something new. Never the same old thing.

    Great news!
