I just checked with Lisa Weller (all right, she thinks Don Mannino is all right too) and with Yvonne Ashmore. She is all right, but they are expecting very strong winds today, so who knows if that will last? She says that several of her friends, including an elderly mentor from her early piano tuning days, survived but have lost their homes, near Chico.

Anyone else have more information about other people?

Been meaning to post.  Can someone familiar with California geography suggest which of our friends might be being directly affected by current fires?  It's remarkable that, for as much as technology has deluded us into believing that we are more connected,  we still have to work (very) hard at true empathy.  The irony is that one can't have such direct empathy with the victims and, at the same time, absorb the scale of what's taking place. 

We need to know who, and how we might be able to help.

Don Poetker, RPT, is in the list of those missing from the Camp Fire. His house is in Magalia, just north of Paradise. I met Don for lunch six months ago or so and talked with him about piano work in Chico. Anyone know Don?

I don't know Don Poetker, but Yvonne Ashmore wrote me about him on November 11. She said:

Sigh of relief for now, even though Chico is not completely out of danger yet. She said his house is gone. So that is now five homes of my friends burned down. So very, very sad.>>

So, at least at that point, he was safe in Chico. If anyone can find a way to reach him (via his daughter in Chico?), it might be good to be sure he's all right and to get him off the missing list. I'll send your news to Yvonne. Maybe she can get word to him.
