At last, PTG has an anthem! (And you gotta love those knowing glances into the camera lens in the video.) Dan Levitan is a genuine treasure.

I'll give it a score of 75 Dick. I like the words but you can't dance to it.

    Absolutely no argument from me!

    This is a keeper!

When he talked about being burned, it reminded me of the time I was at the Newport Arts Center at 3 a.m., getting the two pianos in tune with each other (don't ask why they weren't already <blush>), and doing some voicing with the hammer iron -- and my left hand reached over and  "helped" my right hand, which turned out not to be a good idea. Driving home (an hour) later on, with some ice water to dip my left hand into. And yes, it was an SD-10.

BTW there is an excellent interview with David Anderson done by Rich at Cunningham Piano posted on Pianoworld in the tuner forum. I think PTG should honor David at the next PTG Convention for his excellent skills and willingness to share his knowledge as well as his courage and outlook on life. I propose the name of the award to be the PTG Profile in Courage Award.

If you are feeling a little sorry for yourself watch the interview. I took his class in Norfolk and he inspired me with his technical knowledge, wit and message. I purchased the Inner Game of Music and it has helped me with getting into the zone. He didn't write the book but the principles of this book and an other book called The Inner Game of Tennis apply to all of us.

He related his experience with a particular sound that ruined thousands of dollars of studio recordings. Ironically I had the same sound coming from a Yamaha in an auditorium some months before. He tells you the fix in his class as well as how to regulate great letoff in the piano and make the Piano Sing. I have also been using his open string tuning technique out lined in a journal article.

All i can say is if he is teaching in Lancaster Be There or be Square.
