Expanding Action Brackets - Removing Stuck Action

While we're on the topic of the Young Chang brackets, I thought it might be helpful for some to share my recent experience removing an action where the brackets had expanded so much that the action would not slide out of the action cavity. The drop screws hit the pin block and prevented removal.

This was the only time I have run across and action that would not come out of the action cavity. I suspect it will work any time this occurs. I simply broke the brackets to remove the action. I strongly suspect that any time the brackets have expanded so much that the action is locked in place, the brackets have cracked and weakened enough that they can be broken very easily.

Two videos are attached. The first shows the initial breaking of the bass-most bracket. The second shows breaking the final portion of that same bracket. Watch the hammer flange rail jump downward as the final portion of the bracket is broken. Clearly, I really didn't need the sledge hammer - a much smaller one would have done the job.
