I've looked at that auction over the years. They have some interesting pianos. I can't imagine a similar sale here in the US. Overall, they seem to get pretty strong prices (ie, a 1963 Yamaha U-1 @
£1,600), but also some pianos I'd like to purchase (1910 Bechstein 6' Model A @
£750), plus some interesting oddball pianos. The insurmountable problem is importation.

Subject: Piano Auction, London
I'm here in the UK for 2 weeks and Thursday was the piano auction held on average every 3 months in London generally about 100 pianos on sale, most selling but a few not reaching the reserve price so remain unsold, most pianos selling within the price estimated by the auction company but noticeably this time some older Steinways just barely making the reserve price. A mixture of private and trade buyers in attendance.
