I found this signature on a rim of a Steinway A circa 1895.

I couldn't make out the name.

Then it occurred to me that its a mirror image originally written on the soundboard, that was transferred from the soundboard to the rim via the glue.
So in "Paint" i flipped it horizontally and wa la.

Pretty cool! I never saw a signature transfer like that before.

I find these frequently in turn of the century (19th to 20th) Steinways. They always make me feel like I've got someone looking over my shoulder while I'm working. But no pressure or anything.

A good friend of mine (who is a pro mma guy) points out that since there is no first name, that it's only a half nelson.
I have to admit that's funny!!
