Hi Peter, Preface this...consoles and spinets.... mostly one high shoulder at a time when hammer in check sometimes also pinching the crown and onto back high shoulder, it was really to point out a task where no tools required just finger and thumb, second pass tuning cleaning up unisons hammer still on the pin yeh i know my bad! and quickly complete finger voicing for that note, no reaching for tools etc time and motion efficiency

Martin,
Are you pinching the sides of one shoulder (as I often do with modified parallel pliers), or squeezing shoulder to shoulder in toward the crown?
Clarification needed. Thx

I was going to add to the Side Voicing thread but no.... and this a little tongue in cheek but often our ten digits are very capable of performing regulation voicing and repair tasks without purchasing a tool for every one, start a list if you're so inclined! but tuning a small older Everett console today I was reminded how easy it is to quite dramatically sweeten the tone by pinching the hammer firmly with thumb and forefinger right at the high shoulder while the hammer is in check, I generally do this on the second tuning pass , granted it's little tricky to get good results on hammers 80 and above but try it you'll like it!......
