    Okay, I bought this cheap endoscope camera a while back but hadn't used it, until today. Working on an old grand and there was a buzz I couldn't find. As a last resort I got out the camera (it plugs into a smartphone), started looking around where I heard the buzz coming from, and viola! I found a hair pin sitting on the soundboard!! If that's the only time it works for me, it was worth the purchase price!

    You should be able to click on the link I put in on the words "endoscope camera". I've ordered a few things from that site and so far have been pleased. It's called geek.com and also Wish. Just make sure you're not in a hurry because I think a lot of their stuff comes from China.

    At the National PTG Convention in Lancaster this July I will be demonstrating two types of scopes that I use for various things when troubleshooting problems in pianos including using them to inspect pinblocks, soundboards, bridges, strings, felts, plates. 

    I own two scopes one made by Ryobi that takes a rechargeable battery and has a color screen the size of a large I-phone. The second is from General Tools and is powered off a USB port on a computer. It has the ability to take a picture of the image on the scope which is a great help.

    I have used the scope to check the throw of solenoids on electonic player systems as well as observe action part movement and damper lift.

    The scope from General Tools is called the "Seeker" for all you Harry Potter fans. If you stop by my table in the Drop In Shop section you will get to try them out....

    I think the reason I didn't use it for a while is that I had a little trouble getting it to work with the phone I had at that time. Since then I've gotten a better phone and it works fine now. You have to download an app from the Play Store called Camerafi. I think there are other apps too but this one works okay for me. After this success I'm going to be using it more.
