    A long shot...

I'm working with the Franklin, MA Historic Commission Museum to locate a Trowbridge BOU for their museum display. Trowbridge made BOU's at the turn of the century. Originally the factory was actually  in Franklin, MA. The pianos made there had "Trowbrige ,Franklin" cast into the plate, and in the fallboard decal. By the teens or so, the factory had moved to another city outside of Boston, Wakefield. These later pianos had "Trowbridge, Boston" cast into the plate and in the Fallboard decal.

They have 2 of the Boston Trowbridge pianos. However we are trying to locate one of the earlier pianos that was actually made in Franklin..ie a "Franklin Trowbridge".

Struck out with a post to the Boston Chapter list serve. I thought I'd try this wider search. The piano will be restored to some degree, suitable to the museums purposes. So, condition is not too much of a problem, as long as its not, out-in-the-backyard-for-50-years horrible.

I take it that a BOU is a Big Old Upright ?? Maybe try placing an ad in the newspapers in Franklin and surrounding times plus a wanted poster in stores or on the side of milk cartons --- have you seen me ???

    Jim,

My memory tells me I've seen one or two of these, but a search of my client database turns up notching.

Will keep an ear to the ground and an eye to sunrise (or sunset as the case may be) for one.

Does anyone know that there was a piano manufacturer right here on the NH seacoast?  Moses Brown Pianos. The "factory" (big old house) in Hampton, NH is now a multi-family dwelling. I have seen a couple of these pianos and they were quite good. Brown was also a bicycle repair guy and rented bicycles and pianos largely at the beach in Hampton. The factory was about a mile from the beach.
