Installed my first of two straight bass-side soundboard trim quarter-rounds this morning. I used a slightly modified David Love method. I used 2x4 section blocks and a vertical clamp rather than tapping down the blocks. Worked great. Nice glue squeeze-out all along the trim piece. I first put the C-clamp on just snug enough to hole the block and pad (exterior of case) in place, then I put the bar clamp on and snug it down. As I tighten the bar clamp I can see the bottom end of the block scoot out from the rim a bit - at that point I can tighten up the C-clamp and the block applies pressure in something approaching a 45 degree angle to the quarter-round trim piece. The attached photos I think are fairly self-explanatory. In the one photo with the scrap piece of cardboard hanging out from between the block and the rim - I slipped the cardboard in there just to show that there is indeed a small gap between the bottom end of the clamping block and the rim - which allows the C-clamp to be placing pressure on the clamping block. After installing all clamps I removed one at a time to clean up the glue squeeze out, reinstalled the block/clamp system and moved on to the next one for cleanup. I think this is a very simple and effective approach.
