I just uploaded the few pictures I have so far of a piano I took out of storage.  It's for sale, and needs rebuilding.  It could make someone a monster piano, I believe, and I probably wil never get to it.  I have attached one picture of the bottom of the piano, which reveals the true nature of the beast.  The rim measures 72mm+!!!!!!  and unlike the "select hardwoods" of today,  look at the beams.   Looks like oak to me, but I am no expert on wood identification.  Check this out!

Calvin used knot free Ash for the beams. And the soundboard and ribs were adirondack spruce from NY/Vermont. 1893 was when they won the exposition. They gave gold coin bonuses to their employees when they had an innovation that was used.
I did a video of the company. It's on youtube on my channel.

Clark, I might add that A.B. Chase was one of the few grand piano manufacturers of its time to get the locations of the bellybraces right. They are placed such that they actually provide support to the bellyrail.

I do think that this could make a monster piano for someone.  I hope it finds a good home.  There is someone interested.  Maybe.
