    Hi all,

are there any structural differences between the hammers for Yamahas older G series and the never C series?

The reason I ask is that I happen to have a set of hammers for a G2, and I have a C2 with very worn hammers.

I do know that the G2 has plain wire down to B2, whereas the lowest notes in the tenor section of the C2 have wound strings. I'm just curious about whether the hammer type itself changed with the introduction of the C series.

    Patrick,

Hammers on G model grands are often missing the underfelt, although I have seen a
few with it so I think it depends on the letter series (F,J, E)  but the C models always
have underfelt and seem to be generally better quality hammers overall and behave
differently when voicing. Not definitive here, just my own observation.
