    Good People,

We have two double casters on our Yamaha CF III S concert grand that USED to be able to lock, but the locks no longer work (having been "overwhelmed," apparently by people pushing the piano with the brakes on). Each new caster costs over $500.00!

    So, two questions:

    1) Has anyone been able to successfully repair the brake on one of these? (I have not, nor has Greg Frank at Yamaha Piano Service.) The caster itself is fine. If you know how to fix this, I would love to find out.

    2) Does anyone have any of these casters laying around (I know it's a long long shot, but, "Desperate times..."). I would like to be able to lock the wheels between now and the four to six weeks when the new casters arrive. If you've got 'em, let$ talk.

    Thanks,

    Alan

    Back at you, dear Alan!

If you've got new ones coming fairly soon, I suggest the time honored MM method of securing casters onstage:  either wide rubber tuning mutes, or carefully-selected cordage to tie around the wheels

Alan, I'm guessing you have already jacked up (or mremoved one of the culprit legs) and checked to see if the spanner is tight?? If not-SURE IS worth a shot. This is the first possible scnenario that comes to mind-having worked on quite a few of these....except not Yamaha's specifically.
