Please forgive my sloppiness on that last post.
Although I love a hood Stein B even better, here are some prices on the C7X & C6X pianos. This is NOT an actual quote but these should be very close as I just made an informal inquiry at a local Yamaha dealer: (the C6X is easy to over look as it is still longer than the Stein B at 7 ft. It's only 6" shorter than the C7s. Stein B is only 6'11" if not mistaken).
C7X 7'6" polished ebony retails at $82,999.00. Institution price $54,999.99
C6X 7'0" " " $71,199.00. " " $46,999.99

brand new again I'm on C7 or C6 would be really hard to be for the money in my humble opinion. Have observed these in performance venues for quite a few years in central Texas Well C7s anyway. I just learned about the C6 as one of our professors at Texas Tech school of music has one at his house and he just absolutely loves it. Their hammers are super resilient-- you can voice them to almost any taste and they last a really long time. I will mention that Yamaha has changed the name of these now and of course gone up on the price some I believe the new name like CX7 now.

Subject: Recommendations for 7' grand
The Music Dept here at UMass Amherst has recently been given access to a small performance space in a newly renovated chapel on campus. We're thinking that a 7' grand would be appropriate for this space. They are thinking that a new Steinway B will be out of reach financially. Anyone have any experience with a non-Steinway 7' grand in a performance space?
thanks,
Aaron
