I agree with Blaine on this. Have had more experience with bed bugs than I care do admit (an aunt in Dallas..long story..took the heat thing to finally do the trick. Home Health worker brought them into my mom & dad's house about 3 years ago..pretty much had to move all their stuff out of the house..hired a Bed Bug specialist.)
I would highly recommend removing the piano from the premisis if you do the hear treat. That kind of heat NEVER GOOD for a piano. On a positive note, having the piano in storage (after treating it of course) removed the human from the equation, ie the "food". They CAN survive for up to about 6 months though, so IF the piano has evidence of bed bugs, this job should be treated differently than if there is none on the piano. Best of luck!!

Scott,
I looked into this issue and decided that, if the piano isn't involved (unlikely) then avoiding heat treatment might be wise.
There are other options; RenToKill or other treatments that only treat the affected furniture under a tarp or in a bag or even Vikane gas (which is quite safe on pianos).

What are the opinions or experience with high heat to get rid of bed bugs in an apartment and the affect on a grand piano. The heat would be around 117 to 122 degrees.
