    Hi gang,
Faced with a C6 with two butchered hammers, someone thought this was how to avoid striking badly matched universals. Strings now replaced, but what to do about hammers? Reshape them and they'd really stand out...

    Zeno,
I have plenty of replacements (used but not bad) from my rental fleet. Contact me personally.

I'm not recommending this solution, but I did see this creative approach in an old piano I tuned recently:

Felt glued to striking surface of flattened hammer

Thank you Roger and Melanie!  I already have a line on a handful of Yamaha hammers.  This why I appreciate this piano community of ours so much!

Maybe a place to start would be to remove the two shanks & flanges, move the lower shanks up and place the two at the end to install new hammers. I'd rather have replacements on the end than in the center.
