I hadn't heard of them either. German designed but built in China. Actually very nice for a console, looks like a good deal of care was put into the manufacturing process, not just the finish. Easy to service parts, too, which is an obvious plus. Here's a pic:

I've never heard of a Lothar Schell piano, but look at the back of the piano. Some manufacturers put a sticker on the back, or even stenciled the number into the wood.

I have to service a Lothar Schell console tomorrow morning - second time seeing this piano. Last time I couldn't find the serial number in the usual place. Any ideas where it could be?
For posterity's sake, where have you found serial numbers on both grands and uprights before?
