Can you help me replace my most coarse hammer file, which I've lost?  It was more coarse than sandpaper, but it was not a woodworking file.  It was basically a large, metal emery board, approximately 1.5" X 8".  Can't remember where I got it.

I used to make up a batch of hammer files with 60 or 80 grit belt sander
material glued to a 9" long piece of yard stick.?? I would separate them
by scoring the cloth back with a screwdriver and finish off by rubbing
    against a cinder block wall.

These worked well until my sanding belts began to be backed by a lacquer
or wax coating that doesn't take Titebond.

My supply of these is running low and I need to find belts that will
take my glue or a better glue.

Sanding belts hold up better than most other sandpapers.

These are also convenient when you need to take off a bit of wood from a
    rubbing key.

    hello Blaine,

i use Klingspor JFlex  which may be similar to the Hermes brand:  very durable. I don't have that coarse a grit, just 600, 400 and 320 but the 320 knocks off felt and wood quite rapidly.
