I purchased a retiring technician's shop last  year and am just now getting through the bottom drawers of neat stuff he left me.  He's moved on, so he's not available to ask.  Anyone know what this nifty little Steinway tool does?  It was generally in the Regulation section of the tool drawer.

P.S.  For the Bonus Round, can anyone guess who the primate is?

I believe that tool is to regulate the sostenuto blade on the Steinway action.

I agree with Paul regarding the sostenuto tool. I've never tried adjusting the sos on a bench, but I suppose if it works, and you like bench regulation, more power to ya!

I'm going to venture a guess for the monkey: the original Curious George.

OK, since everyone has been so brilliant, how about THIS tool?  No one in my chapter that has seen this can tell me what it does...

    Hi, Ron,

I think that's a Paras jig for replacing key buttons. While I'm sure that it's helpful, for me, other methods worked better. I wonder where mine wound up.

    Good catch!

    Kind regards.
