Yamaha grand that I was cleaning for a recital had a build up on the lid that looked like someone had tried to wax it. It turned out that a wedding guest in this club house knocked over a lit candle and wax migrated all over the kid. Housekeeping tried to get it all off but did not succeed.
Lid is hi gloss black polyester. I am looking for a good dewaxing formula that will get this hazy layer off safely. I tried some of the cleaner polishes I have including a wood cleaner that stated it removed dirt and wax buildup. I looked in the archives and saw a product used in churches to remove candle wax but I would rather try a product that is safe on pianos. I have some Behlin de-waxer in my shop but anm not sure how effective it will be. I thought perhaps the wax could be safely scraped off with a plastic scraper ?

    How thick is the wax?
One way to get wax out of carpets is brown paper and an iron; brown paper absorbs the wax as the iron heats it. I don't know what heat would due to the polyester finish. It would then need polishing.
I've no experience with this on polyester.

Our Adhesive X will remove the wax build up, then use Pre-Polish Finish Cleaner, then Super High Gloss polish...that should do  the trick.
