So for probably 10 years or more  it has been the pianistic artistry  of French pianist Helene Grimaud  that I have  most often turned to,  I had tickets  to see her last year  , of course cancelled, when she was in Boston  with BSO several years ago  for a 2 week  spell playing Brahms 1 and 2 I tried to persuade  BU  well in advance to invite her to School of Music to give a masterclass, hey I tried!  So this recording is  a real treat  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-VGFxm2zT4
If you're not familiar with her, listen on YouTube to  Bach/Busoni Chaconne, and a lovely performance  of Schumann Concerto.

I noticed from several encounters on the radio that there was a recording of the Bartok 3rd concerto which had tremendous clarity, quite amazing.

It took several chances before I was able to trace the conductor and orchestra and pianist: Pierre Boulez, London Philharmonic, H??l??ne Grimaud.

It's not quite as good on YouTube, but you can get the general idea.

I carefully put in Helen Grimaud's correct accents over the e's, and this stupid software turns it into a bunch of question marks. You'd think someone would figure this out!

    Bach-Busoni Chaconne

A number of years ago a young Latvian came through here, and he played this among other things. He was kind of a holy terror when it came to distressing a tuning, though I survived.

But I checked out a number of his recordings on YouTube, and this one of the Bach-Busoni Chaconne I've listened to a number of times with enjoyment.

    Whimsical: Das Wandern:

(seems to be recorded a lot louder ...)?? Nice old piano
