    Hello Sheffey,
I believe that Richard Salamone recently passed away; hence your inability to contact him...

As for the 'sideways' knuckle, I think these were called "Thayer " knuckles, and were used in pianos earlier in the 20th century. My home piano is a small Emerson grand from c. 1934 which, until I replaced the action parts with WNG parts, had this type of knuckle. There was no way to regulate the jack to knuckle spec since the action had no regulating screw for this regulating step, and the knuckle design gave the pianist (me) limited response. With WNG parts this problem is eliminated.

Do the best you can, without the knuckljac!

    Hope this helps!
