Peter, Years ago I bought 12 of these shift levers because at Boston University we had 40 Baldwin grands circa 1984, just before I retired from BU in March I think there were 4 remaining, they always broke at the same spot an inch or so in from the 90 degree turn, i've seen similar requests for them over the years but always had to hold on to them for BU pianos. Try contacting Louis Gentile
gentilepianos@yahoo.com or 617 471 2494 and mention my name ...good luck, i think though that Schaff sells one that does work

Subject: Baldwin Grand Shift Lever
I am in need of the shift lever for a Baldwin Grand (model M I think) serial #183923 (1926-1928 or so). It was broken in a move and the movers are not owning up to it, nor producing the broken part (obviously) which could be welded if it existed (I think).
So...looking for a similar piano damaged beyond repair that this can be harvested from (I feel like I'm asking for an organ donation from a cadaver). Mounting blocks inclusion would probably be the easiest form of removal.
Please keep your eyes open. Thx.
