Has anyone tried filling holes/gouges in the case with gel CA glue for a natural finish by applying the stain to the hole before the CA glue is put in, and then scratching fake pores in the fill to take the grain filler after the CA cures and is sanded/scraped level.?

Hey, Gary, that video is gold! If it works on a guitar, it should work on a piano too. many good hints on the video. But for a larger area, trying to match the color, draw grain/scratch, and topcoat, man that would be like walking on water. If anybody can do that and make it nearly disappear, let me know. Or teach a class. Other than using lacquer to fix a larger area in a wood color, I've not had much luck with polyester repair of that type. I've used water-thin CA glue, but it often still leaves voids which won't disappear. I've also used the GlueBoost products with limited success on high gloss black poly. Using real polyester for black poly repair works better, at least for me. Konig material.

    GluBoost

The accelerator does not turn the fill cloudy.   I recently touch-up with the Black...

I have used CA gel to cover a relief cut in the bottom panel for a Piano Life Saver watering tube. I first painted the fiber board with a sharpie, then added the glue on top. Not the same as you’re taking about, but the “stain” did float up and camouflage the exposed fiber board.
