We use many different types of applicators in our work. One of the most common is the small plastic bottle with a hypo tip of plastic or metal. Pouring liquids into these can be a pain and funnels are often the wrong size, get dirty, or just aren't available. I remembered a tip from my old chemistry classes of using a stirring rod placed vertical in a vessel and placing the lip of the container you're pouring from against the stick then letting the fluid follow it down; saves muss and fuss.

Since glass stirring rods are easily broken and seldom readily available for me, I use a tiny (.085" diameter) wooden dowel (that I by the thousand at 1.5¢ each from Pianotek as a BRD-1 Bridge Repair Dowel) and use those for all sorts of applications.

When you start figuring the retail retail selling price for materials such as CLP or PFPE in addition to avoiding the mess of spillage, this works very neatly.
