I am dealing with an action in a Huntington grand that has been a challenge to regulate . I am focused on the whippens as the source of the problems and have rebushed the rep lever as well as the felt on the jack. There is only a piece of action cloth 3mm thick on the whippen heel . It is glued to the heel along the entire heel with no underfelt. This cloth is about 3mm thick . In trying to get the blow adjusted I have to turn the capstans way up. Would adding more cloth and some undercloth/bushing cloth help or would it be better to change the height of the rail. I know it might take a bit of trial and error and tweaking the action spread with shims . Almost every whippen picture I have looked at in the catalogs shows heels with underfelt. The heel on this whippen is all part of the whippen-there is no glue joint. Eventually this brand was taken over by the Sterling company and I can not find any published regulation specs. most everything I have done so far is trial and error . Previous work was done on the action such as key rebushing, balance rail keypins, key punching replacement.

The difference between HCH and WCH should be 64mm. The spread should be set to have the knuckle core aligned with the jack center pin at rest.
