    Greeting all,

Player systems can often cause issues. Recently, I received a tip about dealing with a weak grand pedal return spring, and this morning I received another tip for fixing a weak damper tray spring.

If I had a couple of more tips about how to deal with problems introduced by player systems, I could devote an issue of the Journal to the subject.
Anyone have anything? It doesn't have to be spring-related--any aspect of player systems, including older vertical systems (or more modern vertical refits).

    thanks!

    Hi Scott,
What a great idea. I have a few players on my client list that go back a bit. I also have modern pneumatic players as well as digital obsolete versions. Right now I am researching the Piano Technicians Magazine Archives online library going through the 1913 - 1917 American Guild of Piano Tuners issues that have a lot of player trouble shooting tips on those early period players. If you run into anything specific that you would like to put in the journal regarding the earlier players, I'd be happy to help you in the area where I am doing this research. I think it is a great idea especially some of the cautions when a player is encountered in the field. Before doing any action work you ALWAYS want to test the system so you can verify it works or doesn't if you don't the owner may say it worked before you touched it you need to be careful pulling out and returning an action so you clear the solenoids etc I run away when it's a pneumatic player system which is often filled with tubing chains etc

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was thinking of issues caused by the modern systems such as QRS.
Of course, tips for any player systems are welcome as well.
