I just learned of the passing of Joe Swenson, RPT.

I took a course in Dealer Piano Prep of Petrof and Nordiska pianos at Geneva International. Joe knew quite a bit about Petrofs and how to voice the hammers. He also put together a great course outline with suggestions on how to work smarter and more efficiently . I am not sure if he ever published it in the PTG Journal but maybe we can consider it.

Sorry to hear it. I taught some classes with Joe -- a very nice chap and easy to be with. RIP

I only service a couple of Petrofs, but voicing them is different from most other pianos.  I would love to see his work!

I also met Joe at the Geneva International headquarters in Chicago, while he hosted technicians around the country to make sure we were up to speed on the Nordiska and Petrof/Weinbach pianos they were importing.  In every way, Joe wined and dined us for a week, and spent all day with some other technicians doing regulating and other tasks.  He was a true gentleman, and not the kind that would look down his nose at anyone.  He was very much an "everyday" type of guy.  When Geneva Intl stopped importing the Nordiska pianos and Petrof went their own way, he ended up with Samick Music.  I don't know too much about his tenure there, which last I heard from him several years ago at a convention.  I'm sorry to hear of his passing, and pray Godspeed to him in his future in a new life.

Every time I use my 10mm clear poly dip block he gave me, I think of him. Now I have more reason to do so.
