In rereading my post I want to make clear ...... the delay experienced is from piano hammer attack to MIDI sound.
I briefly looked through my manuals and didn't find the page I was looking. It's a three ream pile of literature.
I did a search on MIDI pin out and got more information that I could possibly want. There's 5 V available at the MIDI socket but your external device probably is isolated from it to eliminate ground loops (hum).
There has to be a way to send MIDI data in real time to an external device without the delay. I just can't remember that far back. I've had a few beers and have "slept" since then ....... plus I retired ..... kinda.
I remember playing the piano and having it play the synthetic "voices" without the delay. Keep trying.

Well that much delay would kill my plan, but I'm going to go ahead and try it out and I will post back with what I find out. I think I will have to find a way to either power the bluetooth midi, or else use a hardwired midi cable because I don't think the ports on the rail have voltage out.
Thanks for the help.

From memory there's a half second delay. Maybe it's a tenth of a second delay from the time the hammer hits the string and the MIDI TFT system responds with an audible sound through speakers/headphones/bluetooth.
There is an output linking the TFT sensors with MIDI ....... the usual MIDI in/out/thru sockets on the record board located at the back of the treble end of the rail cover. (grand piano). If you use the MIDI ports on the 128+ ....... it complicates things even further as I recall. You should be able to get instantaneous real time response from these ports ......... as I recall.
I'm hoping someone else chimes in and verifies this or corrects me. It's been 20 years.

I have a PDS128+ with the TFT record function and I am wondering if there is a way to get the piano to output to MIDI in real-time so that I can listen through a pair of headphones on my iPad or iPhone. I have a Bluetooth MIDI hooked up and have been successful playing to the piano and also from it (from the floppy). It seems there must be a way to have it output the midi data as it's played but I have not found it.
Any ideas?
