I was wondering what type of aural checks people use for non-ET tunings. A lot of the ET checks rely on intervals being of equal width.

    thanks

    Rex,

What do you mean by: "A lot of the ET checks rely on intervals being of equal width"?  Can you give some examples, as well as checks you are very familiar with?

I use all the same tests for UT that I use for ET. Maybe I am not thinking on the same plane you are.

...Typically I'm thinking more about the  payment check at the end of  the tuning visit unless of course  aural checks pay the bills!  ....martin.

You don't need checks in the same way as ET.

In tunings with 7 perfect fifths or meantone with 8 perfect thirds those intervals are either spot on pure or they're not. Nothing more to it than that. The  major thirds CE FA and GB have to sound nice and purish and then the octaves deriving from all.

    Best wishes
