I am a really GOOD piano tuner but I realized after using Jon pages' SLICK STUFF on the understring felt on a 7' Yamaha and a Steinway D how good I really am. I now realized  that Jon Page's SLICK STUFF made me a GREAT tuner with less stress, strain and effort.
ATTA BOY Jon. Wow, Wow,wow! I'm even better than I thought !

Thanks Tommy, Counter Bearing Lube (CBL) is like power steering for your hammer. I am hoping Pianotek elects to carry it. It's also a great CLP.

Frankly I don't know how I survived all these years without it.  Kind of like CA technology. Hard to remember life without it.

I contacted Mr. Page and bought his last two bottles for my guys.  HOWEVER, he said that he's ordering more bottles (empty) and will have more CBL at some point.

    So Jon,

A few questions concerning the use of your Counter Bearing Lube (& CLP)...

How do you prefer to apply it? With a brush? (And, if so, parallel to or perpendicular to the string path?) Or with a syringe? Or pipette?

When to apply it? Only on problematic strings? On the entire scale of a piano with ANY problematic strings? On all strings of all pianos?

Has your CBL proved helpful in situations where there appears to be excessive friction due to too much counter-bearing?

Thanks for sharing the fruit of your research with the rest of us!

It's questions like these that prompted me to ask for a link. I would really like to read a bit more about the product before contacting the manufacturer for a purchase.

I apply CBL with a hypo-oiler with a plastic tip extension. I apply it liberally to the bass and tenor counter bearing felt and sparingly to the treble bars. I drag the tip quickly along agraffes and front terminations and then brush it.  For verticals, I hold the brush under the c/b bar as I run the tip along then brush top and bottom of the bar. I might apply a little to the brush and go across the front terminations, sparingly in the bass.

While applying light pressure to the bottle, CBL is delivered as the tip impacts each unison.
