Has anyone used any of the key recovering services that are advertised in the back of the Journal? The person I used to send keys to has stopped doing it. Recommendations or reviews are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Here's another vote for Debra Legg. Very reasonable prices and consistently excellent work! I have also had the pleasure of having had keys recovered by Jon Rolanovski (sp???). I don't think Jon does any advertising, and I'm quite sure key recovering is not his main business, but I can say he's a great guy and has done excellent work for me.

I've been very happy with Debra Legg. I've used Mike Kurta also. Michael Morvan doesn't advertise in the Journal, but does excellent service. He's in the Resource Guide, mike@pianoandorgankeys.com. I don't have experience with the others, but have seen their advertisements for years, so I'm sure they also do excellent work.
    Good luck.

I've sent more sets to Mike Kurta than I can count. Always a great job. Very happy.

Hi Jeff, I highly recommend Debra Legg! I've been using her for my personal jobs and for the University for a few years now. We had to search out a new person after Sue Speir retired and had some HORRIBLE luck before Deb was recommended. (Hint: Walker used to be "OK"... can no longer recommend!)

I've had Kirk Thomas of Walker Piano Key service do great work for my customers and other local shops. Mike Kurta has also done very nice work for me.

I'm only saying this to help maybe save someone some grief. Had a pretty bad experience with Walker. They used to be good years ago. Tried them 2 years ago...he had to call me several times to explain why he was having trouble getting more tops ordered in..thorn it was this then that... then when they came in the bushings were so sloppy I had to re-trim them myself & completely re-size the bushings (not even close and I gave him the specs) AND the keytops were not smooth and not "nicely done". Now we use Debra and age is fantastic and very fairly priced.

Mike Morvan or Ted Oberhaus do excellent work. Mike offers a broader range of services. I think Ted is still Yamaha's recommendation for warranty work.
