Steinway hammers/shanks needed

    Hi All,
Does anyone have an extra set of recent NY Steinway S/M/L/O hammers/shanks that you might be willing to sell?  I've had two sets on backorder for about six weeks and with the recent citywide shutdown in NYC it looks like it might be quite a while before they can ship parts again.  Would love to buy a set or two, if anyone has some available.
Thanks and best wishes to everyone in this challenging time.

This is weird and not perfect by any means, but maybe it might help if you can't find what you are looking for.

I bought a set of Steinway style shanks and flanges (which I think I got from Renner), and took the flanges off of them. I still have the shanks, just the shanks.

I know this sounds strange, but I was fixing an old seized up Steinway M for a non-musician.who wasn't made of money. I replaced the wippen flanges, too, but I could buy them as a set without the wippens. Oops, repetitions. We didn't want to replace the hammers and I certainly didn't want to pull them and reglue them. I rebushed the old shanks, but I didn't want creeping crud to wander into them from the old flanges, so I used new ones, which left me the shanks.

It worked out quite well, because the verdigris was basic and original, and the parts had not been soaked by lubricant from repeated spraying.

Of course, you might be in the same situation -- fouled flanges as well as shanks, but if the flanges are okay (or if you can lay your hands on  a set which are okay) I can find my set of shanks and send them USPS to you.

    Stay safe ....

Thanks for reply and info, Susan!  Needed new parts for this one but hang on to those shanks- the way things are going, they might come in handy...  And thanks so much to everyone who replied privately.  Stay safe and hang in there, everybody.

    Hi Lloyd,

Would you also have key bushing cloth?

I'm out and with everyone out of here, there's a lot pianos needing key re-bushing! I usually use Pianotek medium. I have been blessed with coming into work during these times.

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Yes, we have key bushing cloth strips available in four thicknesses, and we also offer it in squares and sheets.  Check out page 25 of our Master Catalog for full details, available at rennerusa.com, or by clicking here:  https://rennerusa.com/renner-usa-master-catalog/#?page=25.  Then let us know which you'd like to order and we'd be happy to send whatever you need.

    Thanks,
