Customer has a 1930's Kimball grand that the fallboard no longer stays up.  Taking the fallboard out, looks like there was once a ball and spring type arrangement that 'clicks' into place to keep the fallboard up.  Any suggestion as to either replacement parts or alternative means of keeping the fallboard up?

    Thank you!

I have seen some ball and spring type hardware in woodworking supply catalogs and will look through some I have. I have a French door that closes off a room and it has that type of mechanism on top. One thing I have done to hold up fallboards is to jam a plastic wedge in with the fallboard open. Home Depot sells packages of plastic wedges that are used to level doors and windows. They are in the department that sells doors and windows. Jim Geiger in Texas worked at the Kimball factory and may know of something . although I am sure he didnt work there in the 1930's !
