These parts came out of a 1946 Kimball, consolette. I completely restored this piano about two years ago. It is a beautiful instrument, but the piano was damaged this week, beyond repair, while in transport. So I took the piano and dismantled it, taking every aspect of it that had been restored, and that could be saved. Today I got the idea that these parts might be very useful, either for a technician/rebuilder, who might undertake a large job on a small piano- where some, or all of these parts might work, or for perhaps a beginner who is wanting to learn different aspects of the trade, but doesn't want to have to take apart another whole piano to do so. These could either be used as a complete replacement, in another piano of similar style, or they could be used for individual replacement parts.
For sale is:
1. The action
The action has been thoroughly cleaned and lubricated, and all parts, including the felts, leather and springs, are in good condition. The hammers have been reshaped and resurfaced, and it has new damper felt. 30 notes in the bass; 37 tenor/treble dampers. Asking price, $750
2. The complete keyboard
The keyframe has been thoroughly cleaned and refinished, and has new front rail and balance rail punchings- with Wurzen felt for the balance rail, and front and balance rail keypins.
The keys have been thoroughly cleaned, rebushed (both rails), and have Vagias keytops. The black keys are genuine Ebony and in good condition. The capstans are in good condition, although they probably could use some buffing.
The interesting thing about the keyframe, is that it does not have a back rail. The back rail in this piano was built into the bottom keybed, and did not lift out with the rest of the frame. This makes this keyframe more versatile, in terms of the piano that it could be used in- Both in positioning it in the piano, and under the action, and also in creating the best backrail
distance, as well as
length.

3. If someone wants to buy both of these units together, I will sweeten the deal and include an extra, complete set of damper levers, which are "like new", with long, triple-felted damper heads. All the flanges, springs and felts belonging to the levers themselves, as well as the damper head felt, are in excellent condition. This set came out of another small Kimball piano, which was no longer usable as a musical instrument, and was going to be dismantled and burned. I rescued all the damper levers from it because of their condition, and because it is rare to find these long, triple felt damper heads out of an older piano, especially a completely reusable set of them.
